PALAU – SEPTEMBER 22 – 29, 2024:
**** Current CDC guidelines for Palau ****
**** Know Before You Go ****
With its intriguing blue holes, spectacular drop-offs, caverns, caves and channels, it’s no wonder Palau is consistently ranked as one of the world’s most thrilling dive destinations.
With more than 1400 species of fish, 500 species of healthy coral and its large pelagic action, diving in Palau should be at the very top of anyone’s list. Whale sharks, eagle rays, turtles reef sharks and the occasional hammerhead are a few examples of the astonishing spectrum of marine life this Micronesian archipelago has to offer.
One of the biggest thrills you can have as a diver is watching a manta gently swoop in from above. Within the German Channel, manta rays gather in their numbers to feed on plankton and visit the cleaning stations. Cleaner wrasse and butterflyfish get to work, much to the delight of the winged beauties and divers alike.

TRUK (CHUUK) LAGOON – SEPTEMBER 30 – OCTOBER 5, 2024:
**** Current CDC guidelines for Chuuk Lagoon ****
Chuuk Lagoon is relatively easy to dive as the surrounding reef protects the lagoon from strong currents. Some wrecks lie in deeper waters making Chuuk Lagoon a perfect playground for technical divers.
Part of World War II’s Operation Hailstone, US planes attacked a large formation of Japanese ships trapped inside the sandbars that made the Lagoon a natural harbor. Over 60 ships and hundreds of Japanese aircraft were destroyed, turning the atoll’s shallow water into a graveyard of men and war material.
Having been in the lagoon for more than 60 years, the wrecks are covered in soft and hard coral growth but they are still largely intact. Some wrecks can be penetrated by divers who will discover torpedoes, engine rooms, Zero airplanes, artillery guns and even tanks, trucks and ammunition.
Besides wrecks, it is also possible, and in fact recommended, to dive at some of the outer reefs of Chuuk Lagoon. This will be to enjoy superb coral reefs and steep walls which are busy with pelagic marine life.
